We are sad to see our summer interns say farewell! As a final goodbye, here is a blog article on our students' experiences - we have a variety of software developers, designers, and pharmacy students! Check out this article to learn more about the internship experience at MedMe.

I worked as both a software developer, and part of the QA team, so I'd work on dev tickets, and test features that my peers implemented. I spent most of my time centralizing components, which helped to clean up our code base and make it easier for future devs to understand and edit!
How different and fast-paced start-up culture can be!I love how quickly features get implemented and the fact that we, as co-op students, can see our impact almost immediately. I was also amazed at how eager the company was to grow and change. The team takes time to reflect on each sprint, and adjusts accordingly. It was amazing to watch MedMe grow so rapidly over just 4 months, and I can't wait to see how the company will evolve after a few years' time :)
Flexible, innovative, and supportive!

I was (and still am) a software development intern. I worked with other devs to implement features that get requested from the product team, and wrote tests to ensure that the MedMe application is always behaving as expected!
I learned the value of being aligned with all the other teams at a company. We are able to move forward very efficiently as a company due to the strong communication we have between different teams like engineering, product, customer success, etc.
Driven, innovative, passionate

I worked as a full stack developer intern on the engineering team and a student lead for the developer interns! As a developer, I worked on frontend, backend and database tasks to implement new features and fix bugs within the platform. As a student lead, I organized daily touch points, socials, and mentorship opportunities for the other coops!
Working at MedMe made me realize how important it is to me to be passionate. You always hear about everyone saying that you do what you're passionate about, and I was able to see that come to life in the MedMe team. Being surrounded by such passionate people that truly love the work they're doing and having the ability to make a positive impact on pharmacies myself has been extremely fulfilling. Now, I know that I am passionate about making an impact, and it's something I'll continue looking for in the work I do in the future.
Impactful, welcoming, empowering

On the development side, I built new features, fixed bugs, and implemented new systems like end-to-end testing. In general, I made many new connections, learned a great deal about startups, and hopefully made a positive impact in pharmacy!
One massive perk of remote work is the flexible hours; thanks to that, I've learned that I write some pretty good code during the night!
Fast, passionate, exciting

My role at MedMe was as a Software Developer Intern, so I worked with the engineering team to work on new features and maintain the platform. I got to participate in an agile environment and work on projects that would have a direct impact on clients both on my own and with other developers!
What is one unexpected thing you have learned during your time with MedMe?
An unexpected thing I've learned at MedMe was that there are a lot more services that pharmacists can offer outside of what I had considered to be the norm!
Driven, encouraging, flexible

As a Software Engineering Intern, I fixed bugs on the website and built new features. I also had the opportunity to work with pharmacists, product managers, and entrepreneurs!

How down to earth all the full time workers are!
Inspiring, hard-working, welcoming

I worked on multiple design projects and user research over the past four months to improve MedMe’s platform for both pharmacists and patients, as well as helped update the website and sign up flow for new users. Along with having a lot of ownership with design projects, I also had the opportunity to engage in many product meetings to share my perspective on ongoing projects and take on a couple development tickets!
I knew coming into this co-op term that working for a startup was going to be very fast-paced with tight deadlines, but what I didn’t realize is as a designer how many meetings you were a part of every day as we collaborated with every department. This required me to learn to frequently shift my focus between each meeting and use the small blocks of time throughout the day more productively.
dedicated, supportive, meaningful

During my time with MedMe, I was able to wear several hats. I started part-time in January as the social media manager and continued this role through my full-time co-op term. I was a part of the Business & Development team where I researched the pharmacy market landscape and provided clinical insight. I also supported the Customer Success team in educating pharmacists on how to optimize their MedMe platform and assisted the Product team in user interviews with pharmacists to provide feedback on new modules we are developing.
One unexpected thing I learned during my time with MedMe is how flexible everyone on a startup company’s team is. I was able to dip my toes into almost every department during my time here and learn more about all the moving parts of a technology company. I also learned how adaptable I myself can be after being tasked with so many different projects!
Unique, user-focused, united
