MedMe's new COVID-19 Testing Module combines patient screening, online scheduling, and a custom virtual queuing system designed to streamline and facilitate safer testing workflows in pharmacies.
July 23, 2020 (Toronto): MedMe Health, Canada’s leading pharmacy virtual care platform, today announced the launch of its COVID-19 Testing Module to support pharmacists in conducting safe and efficient asymptomatic COVID-19 testing in the communities they serve. The module combines patient screening, online scheduling, and a custom virtual queuing system designed to streamline and facilitate safer testing workflows in pharmacies.
“Pharmacists have been going above-and-beyond during this pandemic to serve and protect their patients. Our novel COVID-19 Module combines patient screening, online scheduling, and a custom virtual queuing system designed to streamline and facilitate safer testing workflows in pharmacies, and will help to find cases in the community that would otherwise go unnoticed. Additionally, it will help pinpoint hot spots or at-risk areas, while also protecting the pharmacists doing this work.” said Rui Su, Chief Clinical Officer.
“Looking ahead, we’re already prepared to support similar contactless intakes and scheduling with a Flu Shot Module for the upcoming flu season.”
In late June, Alberta announced a pilot of 20 pharmacies offering asymptomatic COVID-19 testing. The program was expanded to 40+ pharmacies on Tuesday, with the potential to be rolled out across the province and the country.
Suhas Thaleshvar, owner of Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in Sherwood Park, Alberta was an early adopter of MedMe’s pharmacy care platform. Immediately after being chosen as a pilot site for Alberta’s asymptomatic testing program, Suhas started using MedMe’s COVID-19 module to ensure the safe delivery of testing within his local community.
“MedMe’s pharmacy-focused workflow and customized patient messaging for COVID-19 testing helped us start testing patients the day our kits arrived. Within 24 hours, we had 20 appointments booked. Without MedMe, we would not have been able to start for at least a week later,” says Suhas. “I have full confidence in MedMe’s compliance with rigorous privacy requirements that other ‘free’ solutions severely lack.”
“Today’s announcement furthers our fundamental mission: to support pharmacists through today’s challenges, while empowering their crucial role in the future of healthcare” says Purya Sarmadi, CEO of MedMe Health.
